Hanafubuki is the multidisciplinary theatre collective of illustrator Hanne Holvoet, actress Sari Veroustraete, choreographer-designer Samuel Baidoo and business manager Marie Luyten.
On each project they work with a changing roster of artists of varying disciplines. Their oeuvre is characterised by a great variety with a strong visual focus. They continuously search for ways to engage and involve the audience.
The curiosity about each others’ mediums always results in new performative forms. Their collaboration creates a common language which broadens their individual perspectives on art. They are collectively fascinated by simple theatrical trickery that makes objects move or (dis)appear, finding objects on the street and examples of coincidence.
Apart from being artists, they also teach and work in the social sector. These experiences keep them firmly in touch with the world and strengthens the content of their performances as they experience their target group from within.
In 2024–2025 and 2025-2026, Hanafubuki will reprise Archipelago, Eiland (‘Island’) and Diorama.
