fABULEUS makes exciting theatre, dance and circus performances. It is a theatre for young audiences and a production house for young talent. What sets fABULEUS apart from other initiatives? The people on stage. In its youth productions, these are young people between the ages of 13 and 21 who come from all over Flanders and Brussels. In its children’s productions, (emerging) professional actors and dancers take the floor.
Central to the activities of fABULEUS is the exchange and collaboration between its (very) young talent and (more) experienced creators. Some speak the language of movement, acrobatics or dance, while others use words and texts to share their relatable stories and challenging themes with a wider audience. The ease with which young audiences identify with the young performers is one of the great strengths of these productions. Many professional makers previously performed with fABULEUS as teenagers. Among those who took their first artistic steps on the fABULEUS stage are Mitch Van Landeghem, Sofie Joan Wouters, Rachif El Kaoui and Michiel Vandevelde.
fABULEUS operates out of OPEK, Leuven (B) and is an organisation-in-residence at Kunstencentrum STUK. Offering a range of school, family and evening performances, the company is welcomed with open arms at festivals, cultural centres and arts centres in Belgium and abroad.
In 2024–2025 Ultra and Beyond The Edge will be reprised and we will see the premiere of out of hands (23 April 2025 at Kunstencentrum STUK, B).
In the 2025-2026 season new creations The Ethereal Paradox and Repeatclub will premiere. The above mentioned performances are not all the fABULEUS productions currently on tour - we selected the ones suitable for an audience that does not speak Dutch.
