Samuel Baidoo is a maker, performer and mentor. Within their individual trajectory they link autobiographical experiences to various forms of work. This work always starts with the intuitive creation of a new archive of images, text snippets, film stills, documentaries, pieces of music or excerpts from television series, films, games and manga. In turn, sharing this archive uncovers new content which further engages Samuel. This is their way to associate and connect with the world around them.
Samuel makes both their own and commissioned work and is one of the artistic directors of the artist collective Hanafubuki. In recent years, Samuel has collaborated with Agostina D’Alessandro, Tuur Marinus, KOPERGIETERY/Lola Bogaert, tout petit and Michiel Vandevelde. They also annually coach dance students at Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (B).
In the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons, Samuel will keep working on Plum Road Tea Dream. Both the game and the performance will be developed. You can take part in the public sharing of the creation process at Look Behind the Scenes (cf. below). The performance Plum Road Tea Dream will premiere in February 2026 at De Brakke Grond Amsterdam (NL).
