Lucinda Ra is an collective of like-minded artists from diverse disciplines who share a love for things that don’t fit within traditional frameworks. As a collective they use theatrical forms that do not only belong to the stage- such as books and texts, animation films, concerts or expositions. GOOD COMPANY supports the theatrical and visual work of two members of the collective: Barbara and Stefanie Claes. Their performances are created outside of the safe bounds of the theatre. Social and/or personal stories form the basis for their work. They will often take years to immerse themselves in the subjects they pursue. Through encounters, events and interviews, they gather material to be explored through theatre. This results in experiences that cut to the bone.
Lucinda Ra meanders through the realms of chaos, fantasy and ingenuity. They cherish the richness of life – all the more because life is often hard as stone. To them, great things are always the sum of many smaller parts.
In 2022 Lucinda Ra received the Ultima Podiumkunsten prize for their entire oeuvre. The jury commended ‘their participatory and respectful approach to the stories of vulnerable people and their way of documenting from the ground up’. Other accolades include two nominations for Het TheaterFestival and winning the Taalunie Toneelschrijfprijs.
In 2024–2025, Stefanie Claes will reprise Mia Kermis and ravensbrück. She will retake ravensbrück in 2025-2026. Meanwhile, Stefanie and Barbara are preparing Katrientje, a new piece that will be created in 2026-2027.
